History of Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital

Dr. Leeland Curtis “Buzz” Morley, Sr. founded Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital in 1950. Dr. Morley Senior built a 1500 square foot red brick veterinary practice that used to sit about 4 inches off of the current hospital’s front porch and a modest house on the adjacent property. Dr. “Buzz” Morley simply walked across his driveway to work.

Dr. Morley Senior passed the torch along to his son, Dr. Charles Bruce Morley. Dr. Bruce Morley was an active member of the Laurel community and served its people and pets for many years.  His door was always open and the doctor was always in.  Dr. Morley was also a member of the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association and served in an advisory capacity with the Maryland Boston Terrier Club and Old English Sheepdog Club. Dr. Morley retired in 2005 and unfortunately passed away in March of 2006. Before he retired Dr. Morley passed the flame of Owner and Hospital Director for Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital to Dr. Steven Wolchinsky.

Dr. Wolchinsky is a native of Brooklyn, New York and has worked at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital since 1987. Since 1995 Dr. Wolchinsky has been running the day-to-day veterinary operations at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital.  His goal is to continue to run the hospital with the old-fashioned values that Dr. Morley began and still offer all the conveniences of a modern hospital.
 
Dr. Wolchinsky spearheaded a full reconstruction of Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital from fall of 2006 until the spring of 2008.  The brand new, state-of-the-art Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital and Resort opened its doors on March 3, 2008.
 
In the spring of 2008, Dr. Wolchinsky partnered with Dr. Sallie Morris (who has been part of Rocky Gorge and has helped the hospital grow and prosper for 30 years), Dr. Karen Farnan, and Dr. Marisa Pasekoff to help push Rocky Gorge into the future.
